Shreveport falls in the semi-finals to a well-drilled and well-prepared Dallas Harlequins side.

There are a lot of thanks to be given. First and foremost, thank you to our union, @texasrugbyunion for setting us up with beautiful pitches to play on and for organizing our season and the playoffs so that we can continue to play rugby all year long. The work behind the scenes is immense and appreciated.

Secondly, to all of our sponsors and everyone who donated to help with travel and lodging costs: thank you. #SRFC hasn't had this opportunity in the playoffs since 2017, and getting the logistics together was immeasurably eased with your kind help.

To our families and supporters, thank you. Playing rugby is fun, but it's so much better and so much more rewarding with you in our corner.

To the Quins today, and our opponents throughout the season, we say thank you for all the matches and for playing fairly and with passion and intensity, but without malice.

And lastly, thank you to each and every player who has put their time, energy, and bodies on the line this year as we put our season together. It's an honor to have you as a part of our club and an honor to be able to step out on the pitch with you to represent our city and our crest. It's a privilege to be able to play a sport we love with people we love.

We transition to 7s. We move forward with pride. We look back on our season with a massive sense of accomplishment.

It's our final practice before the team packs up for Houston. It's all to play for on Saturday, and it's win or go home. Our stated mission is to play as long as they'll let us, so we don't get a match on Sunday unless we bring home the W on Saturday. We get to represent our city and we're damn proud to do it.

We are still taking donations for anyone interested in helping defray hotel and transportation costs to our players as well. Please see our previous post if you're interested in giving.

Our goal is to play as many matches and go as deep into playoffs as we absolutely can. This team is 100% committed to giving everything they have to our playoff push. The only problem is that if we do well, our costs to the members go up very quickly, so we are asking for your help. Any funds you donate will go directly towards housing, feeding, and paying transportation costs of younger club members to ease the burden. Anything helps and all of it goes towards a 501(c)3 organization. Every match we can participate in from here on out is an overnight away match. Thank you for considering us as we endeavor to represent our city and our union at ever higher levels and against ever greater competition.

The women of the Shreveport Valentines have been playing with Lagniappe rugby this year to get matches in and they've earned the right to play in the True South playoffs. And no, you're not reading that score line wrong, they went down there yesterday and did the damn thing! Best of luck to our ladies as Shreveport continues it's winning ways and they compete for the True South WD3 championships today! We're incredibly proud!

After a week of rain and low temperatures, it turned out to be a lovely, sunny, warm day for Old Skool RFC to travel to #shreveport for a match. The men of Old Skool were forced by work schedules to travel with only 16, but they fought like caged tigers for 80 minutes despite the setback. Old Skool RFC has always been known for playing a physical brand of rugby and the latest crop clearly is eager to live up to traditions. #SRFC jumped out to an early lead but OSRFC narrowed the gap to almost nothing at the end of the first half. The second half started much the same as the first and Shreveport jumped back to a comfortable lead and attempted to hold off repeated assaults at their try line. At the end of 80 punishing minutes, SRFC had withstood the test and emerged victorious! All the credit to Old Skool for traveling light and playing like they hadn't.

Thank you to our sponsors for making things like a playoff run possible. Not only is a season expensive, but extending the season even moreso. And we don't worry about that because our sponsors ROCK.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 ALL ROSTERED PLAYERS NEED TO BE AT THE PITCH NO LATER THAN 12:30 TO UNDERGO TRU COMPLIANCE CHECKS🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

In other news, the field prep crew was a bit larger and more involved than normal undertaking water removal on a large scale. Squeegees, pumps, buckets and a lot of elbow grease were involved.

It's not just #GameWeek, it's #playoffweek! #SRFC has the honor of hosting #playoff #rugby at our home pitch this week against Old Skool Rugby Club (formerly known as Fort Hood for any of our old boys with long memories). With a fearsome reputation and the knowledge that it's win or go home, the two teams will be vying for the right to play next week in Houston! It promises to be a match worth watching, and we can't wait to see you there!

The men of #SRFC traveled to Galveston to finish out the regular season today. Galveston RFC put out a strong side and fought a hard match for the full 80 minutes, but fell to the men from across the border. They were absolutely gracious hosts and put on the best away social we've had this year, and the brisket was some of the tastiest in the state of Texas.

Thank you to Galveston for putting on a great match today! And thank you to our sponsors Red Ball Oxygen, Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City, The Seventh Tap, Eco Mulch and Sod, Eagle Distributing Shreveport, Ono's Hawaiian Grill, and Tiki Bar and Grille for making our games possible. Their support is what means we can have water bottles and jerseys and all manner of things that allow us to focus on the field!

Tries: Iankyali Olvera, Alex Kennedy (x2), Evan Johnston, Jared Banks (x3), Brandon Brownmiller
